The YMCA of Elkhart County has policies in place for the benefit and welfare of our members, guests and our organization. All policies are approved by the YMCA of Elkhart County Board of Directors. Age RequirementsY Facilities Cell Phone UsageCell phones are only permitted in designated areas of the YMCA facility. Cell phone use in locker room areas is prohibited. Check-in/Scanning Your CardYou will be required to present your member identification card each time you visit the YMCA. The Welcome Center staff will scan your card. Code of ConductAt the Y, we expect staff, members and guest to behave in accordance with our mission and values at all times, repecting the rights and dignity of others. We demonstrate Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility by:
Adherence to the YMCA Code of Conduct and regulations is essential. Noncompliance may result in suspension or termination of Y membership privileges. Day PassDay pass fees are limited to three visits per year. The fees paid may be used towards membership if used within a 30 day period. A person paying a day pass fee may not participate in lap swim and/or pick-up recreational basketball. These activities are reserved for members only. Depending on usage, day passes may not be sold during the months of November through March. Dress & AttireWe ask that Y members and guests respect others and dress appropriately at all times while in the facility. We ask that you wear only athletic shoes while in the gymnasium. All other workout areas require proper workout shirt, shorts or pants, athletic shoes and shocks. Clothing must be clean, muddy items are not premitted. Clothing with abusive language or graphics that are offensive is not allowed in the facility at anytime. Equipment Check-out/Merchandise SalesRacquetball rackets/ balls may be borrowed from the Welcome Center. Basketballs may be checked out with a Y membership card or driver's license. If you do not return equipment, you will be charged for replacement. The Welcome Center offers a variety of merchandise for sale. Please inquire at the desk for more information and pricing. GuestsGuests must show ID and be accompanied by a Y member while using the facility. A member can bring non-member guests up to five times per year into the facility; each non-member is limited to one visit per year. If the same guest desires to use the facility they will be asked to pay the day pass fee. Inclement WeatherThe Y building will be closed if a citywide weather emergency is declared, in that event, all programs, classes and building operating hours will be cancelled / closed. In the event the Elkhart Community Schools close, every effort will be made to run classes and programs. Make-up classes will not be rescheduled due to cancellation factors out of our control, such as inclement weather. Additional announcements will be made on : WSBT- TV, WFRN, WVPE. Medical EmergencyY staff members are CPR, First-Aid and AED (automatic external defibrillators) trained and certified. Please see a staff member immediately if someone needs assistance. Personal BelongingsPlease take special care in locking up all personal belongings in both the locker rooms and in your vehicle. The YMCA of Elkhart County is not responsible for lost or stolen articles. Photo NoticeThe Y occasionally video tapes/ photographs its members and participants in various activities. Some of these photos are used in Y marketing materials, ads or brochures. If you do not want your photo used by the Y please step out of the shot or notify the photographer before the picture is taken. Program Refund PolicyIf the YMCA has to cancel a program, you will receive a full refund. No refund is given unless the program is cancelled by the Y. The Y will provide you with a 100% refund for medical reasons if a doctor’s release statement is issued. Classes do not meet on holidays, and fees are adjusted. Suspension/Loss of MembershipMembers and guests fighting, using foul/abusive language or other misuse of membership privileges are subject to suspension of membership privileges at the discretion of staff on duty. Transfer PolicyIf you are moving out-of-state, your membership privileges can be transferred to the local Y in your new hometown. When transferring your membership, you will be subject to the policies, procedures and membership rates of the Y to which you are transferring. All transfer request are handled at the new Y.
