Welcome to the

YMCA of Elkhart County

The YMCA of Elkhart County strengthens the foundations of our community through well-being and fitness, camps, family time, swim, sports and play, and other activities for people of all ages, incomes and abilities. We’re more than just a place to work out. At the Y, we help build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all with the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility at the heart of everything we do.

With a commitment to nurturing youth development, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive.

NEWS FROM THE Y
2011 brought many new as well as familiar faces to our Y swimming pool. Between swim lessons, water aerobics, swim team, open swims, special population programs and of course lap swimmers, the Y pool was visited over 25,000 times by members throughout the year. In particular, there are five faces that the aquatic employees see most often; William Becker, Gary Cummins, Alderson Robinson, Pat Richards and Mark Yeoman all recorded the most miles swam throughout 2011. You won't believe how far they swam!

Congratulations to our top 5 swimmers this year as well as to all our lap swimmers for completing yet another great year at the Y pool!

1. Pat Richards: 220 Miles

2. Alderson Robinson: 209 Miles

3. Gary Cummins: 201 Miles

4. Mark Yeoman: 131.5 Miles

5. William Becker: 70 Miles

Dozens of swimmers traveled great distances in our Elkhart Y pool but many of them didn't have their miles recorded for 2011. Tracking distances is just one way that swimmers can set goals for themselves and live healthier lifestyles. If you're a veteran swimmer who hasn't kept records before or you're new to swimming but need an incentive, why not aim to have your name appear on our list for 2012?
