Welcome to the
The YMCA of Elkhart County strengthens the foundations of our community through well-being and fitness, camps, family time, swim, sports and play, and other activities for people of all ages, incomes and abilities. We’re more than just a place to work out. At the Y, we help build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all with the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility at the heart of everything we do.
With a commitment to nurturing youth development, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive.

Each month we focus on the positive character aspects of our employees, incredible members and volunteers who more than deserve recognition. The Y staff nominates a fellow co-worker, member or volunteer that has exhibited exceptional caring, responsibility or respect to other staff, members or volunteers. Three plaques hang in the Welcome Center of the Y with the picture of each month's nominees.
In addition to the plaques, we post a monthly blog about the nominees. If you know any of the nominees, give them a high five and let them know they really do make a difference!

Tabitha Roskam could very well have the nickname 'Flex' while at work. She is the supervisor of our housekeeping 2nd shift, but can be found here at all hours of the day filling in where needed. Not only is Tabitha is able to keep up with huge task of housekeeping needs for the Y at night (some nights, we have over 400 people come to the Y), she is more than willing to take on additional tasks as they come up. Tabitha is calm in times of stress and shows great patience during frustrating circumstances. In her spare time, she likes to read and spend time with her boys.

FEBRUARY 2012Britt Murphey has been a Y member of the Y for over 11 years. He is one of those 'early risers' that is often here as soon as we open the doors at 5am. Britt is friendly to Y staff and fellow members Britt is not the only Murphey that frequents the Y, his wife Judy and son Brad are in several times a week as well. In addition, the Murphey's daughter Jamie Krempec and her husband Mike are also Y members and supporters. Even the Murphey's grandkids are in on the Y thing, taking swim lessons and playing soccer! Like many families, the Y is the place that brings them all together. Britt and his wife Judy are avid supporters of the Y, and we appreciate all they do for us, especially that fact that they trust us with their family!

Additionally, she serves on our Fundraising Committee and has taken on the role of Vice President of the Board as of the beginning of 2012.
